Groom of the Year 2011

So, I convinced Ronnie to jump onboard the 'contest train'. For his contest entry the prizes are:
  • a man's wedding band and a pair of cufflinks from SK Cobalt
  • an Unlimited Luxury honeymoon from Secrets Resorts & Spas
  • Groomsmen gifts from Brides.com
  • a Sony HDTV and and XBox 360 console with Kinect
He shared his entry with me this morning and I wanted to share with you. I am one lucky girl.

I knew she was "The One" when:
Sheena and I have been dating for some time. So I'm not really sure at what moment I knew she was "The One." I do know that when we first started dating she was "The One" I enjoyed spending time with. As time passed she has been "The One" who was always there for me and "The One" who loved me like no one else. So by the time I was down on one knee asking her to marry me, there was no doubt that she was "The One" that I wanted to marry. Now I'm looking forward to her being "The One" to spend the rest of my life with.

If my fiancee were to describe me in 3 words, the would be:
Patient
Compassionate
Admirable
(Those were actually the 3 words that I gave him when he asked.)

I am Groom of the Year because:
Sheena has chosen me as her Groom of the Year. That's the only contest that matters to me. Everything else is just icing on the wedding cake.

I am SO very blessed and so happy to able to share my life with such an amazing man!

It has been brought to my attention that the link I previously posted to our wedding website didn't work. It is fixed on the other post, but here is a new link just in case:

The Recipe for a Perfect Wedding Day

So, Brides Magazine has this contest where you can win $10,000. You had to describe your ideal ceremony and reception in 100 words or less. Here's my entry. Tell me what you think! Do I have a chance at $10,000?

The Recipe for a Perfect Wedding Day
• Begin with a beautiful October day.
• Fill the room with friends and family.
• Add a blushing bride in a beautiful dress who looks like a princess walking down the aisle.
• Mix in a groom handsome enough to make any girl swoon.
• Toss in a peanut butter and jelly unity sandwich (unity candles are over-rated).
• Stir things up with dinner and dancing at a beautiful indoor/outdoor reception hall.

Recipe yields:
a joyful day full of memorable moments - a girl, a boy, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, friends, family and lots of love.

Monday...oh Monday (and a link to wedding website)

This week begins the real craziness that is my life. My SCC students return this week, so we are in full swing at the studio. Early mornings in Cairo. Late nights at the studio. I knew it was coming, but I haven't felt very well the past few days, so the thought of this week is utterly exhausting.

On a lighter note, I have uploaded my guest list (some of you will be getting Save the Date emails once I figure out how it works). It will hopefully give you a link to our wedding website. If not, here it is:
www.theknot.com/ourwedding/RonnieMaysJr&SheenaNeely
It isn't complete, but I'm trying to keep it fairly up-to-date. I like that people can RSVP there and I like that you can post links to your registries (which are no where near complete, but we're working on it!).
(NOTE: The Knot's website has some really awesome options for helping brides stay organized.)

I have someone working on designing invites, so one more thing checked off of my list.

I really just want the planning to be done so that I don't have to think about it. I just want to enjoy life - screw the wedding! It's one day. I'm sure it will be a lovely party and I'm trying to make sure its beautiful and enjoyable for everyone who can come, but I really could care less about most of the details. Not your typical bride...what else can I say?

Hope you have a great week.

Gods of the Blog World, Forgive Me

My life is so busy that I can't seem to blog. (to those of you who are better at managing your time and still find time to blog and bake and knit sweater....shush!) Pioneer Woman I am NOT! In fact, she makes me feel incredibly inadequate as a woman!

So, right now, my American Music History class is watching a video on the blues which is why I actually have time to do this. Well, truth be told, I don't have time to do this, but I don't want to do the things that I should be doing instead of this.

The students are required to journal everyday as part of their grade. Today's journal was about ways to better manage your time. The discussion that took place regarding this journal topic made me realize something: I'm pretty sure I'm a Facebook addict. It doesn't seem like such a time suck since I have it on my phone. I'm not sitting down in front of the computer for hours on Facebook, but I'm pretty sure that I spend a LOT of time checking status updates and looking at pictures. I'm also pretty sure that Facebook has become a regular part of my day. It's sad, really. However, I can tell you who is building houses, who is expecting, who had a great date last night and who is REALLY tired and doesn't want to go to work today - all of the important things in life???!!!?!???!? I'm a sick person and I LOVE Facebook!

Wedding Update: having trouble with invitations - I have someone to design them, but don't know where to find a reasonable printer. Any suggestions?
Guest List: This part SUCKS! The end.

I do have the next 2 days off at the studio. Totally excited about this. I think Ronnie and I are going to dinner tonight and are going to hang out at the house. I honestly have trouble sitting still on nights like this - mostly because I'm so used to going all of the time. I am planning on finding a cozy spot on the couch and not moving until bedtime, though. Wish me luck!

bahahahaha!

So, I have started my day with this article by Jen Lancaster. Hilarious! And according to her blog, people are up in arms about it. Hope it makes your day the way it did mine! I don't care what anyone else says, I think she's a comedic genius.

I plan to blog a little later tonight, but I wanted to share the article.

2011 - What? Already?

It seems that the older I get, the faster time goes by. Now, don't get me wrong - there are those days that seem to just creep by, but I honestly don't know where 2010 went. While it wasn't all bad, I'm ok to see it go. After all, 2011 means a wedding!!!! Woot!

Things I've learned or been reminded of this year:
  • I'm where I'm supposed to be. That doesn't mean that I always like it. It doesn't mean that everything is easy and runs smooth (quite the opposite, actually). However, there's something to be said for standing where God needs you to be regardless.
  • Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that God isn't smack-dab in the middle of it. A lot of things happened this year that sucked a LOT, but I know that God was STILL in control and had a purpose in all of those situations.
  • God's grace IS sufficient.
  • Encouragement does alot for the encourage-er and the encourage-ee. "...Encourage one another daily..." Hebrews 3:13
Things I'm looking forward to in 2011:
  • the wedding!
  • adding new students to my roster at the studio
  • spending time with family and friends
  • reading---I have a NOOK Color and I'm loving it!
Happy New Year! Here's to hoping for the impossible, seeing miracles manifest before our eyes, and  watching dreams become reality.
